Success Week: Wyndham

For the Wyndham company, it has been a winding road to becoming the largest vacation company in the world. I learned about the companies history through online article and the companies website to understand how they became so successful.

The first thing that I learned was that the Wyndham Hotel company started it all, and this was founded by Trammel Crow in Dallas, Texas in 1981. The brand was soon renamed Wyndham International which took over many vacation rental properties as it grew throughout the years. In 2012 Wyndham would acquire Shell Vacation Club, which was one of the most respected independent timeshare operations. With that Wyndham has over 900,000 owner families and is run by Franz Hanning. The Wyndham Asset Affiliation Model which plans on bringing in additional timeshares that will be rebranded under Wyndham name will ensure for even more growth for the company. Which will allow for Wyndham to create new vacations destinations for their guests without "heavy capital outlay." Showing that Wyndham thinks outside of the box to create key partnerships that grow their business.

Wyndham can create such a successful business by following their mission and culture and ensuring their core values. Their mission states, "with the widest range of places to stay, Wyndham Worldwide welcomes people to experience travel the way they want," showing that they offer a special place that is perfect for the traveler. They make sure to promote their culture that is "Wyndham Worldwide’s  service-oriented "Count on Me!" culture encourages each associate to be responsive, be respectful and deliver great experiences to our customers, guests, partners, and communities as well as to each other." Ultimately showing how a simple hotel can create a brand that is dependable and can surpass all others to produce a well known successful brand.
