Roles: Marketing

What matters about you and your role in a business all depends on job title. People with specific roles in a business help structure a successful business. In a business people are assigned to one specific role in a huge business. Today I want to focus on one specific job in a business, and that is Marketing.

There are many roles in the marketing department which includes market analyst, brand management, advertising, promotions and public relations. A market analyst researches about the existing and potential customers in the market the business is investing in. They do so by creating surveys, questionnaires or focus groups which answers the questions that are needed to further improve the business's existing marketing plan.

A brand management employee focuses on how to present its products to the market. For example, Apple presents its products in the premium smartphone market. A brand management employee would focus on this market and find ways in which to make Apple look like a premium brand. They have successfully done so by creating sleek designs and premium colors such as white and black, while making sure its advertisements does not look convoluted.

Advertising and promotion employees, as obviously stated by job title, are in charge of creating advertisements for the company. They must make sure its advertisements are eye-catching and attractive so the potential customers will purchase their products.

Lastly, the public relations team is in charge of keeping the good image of the company. If there are scandals regarding the company that could tarnish the company's image, they must come up with a plan to alleviate it by, for example, holding a speech from the company's representative to address the issue by falsifying the claims or, if it is true, tell the public about the solutions it has done to solve the issue. On the other hand, they could also promote its brand image by stating its corporate social responsibility by how the company has contributed to the society such as donating to charities or executing sustainability in its operations.

In my experience, marketing is the best way to strategize your business. In the future of the marketing roles, there is a downfall in people that are educated to succeed at this job. If you want to have a good business, having a marketer around will always have a good contribution to your business.
